The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District, has received an application from the Los Angeles Harbor Department (LAHD) for a five-year maintenance dredging permit.

LAHD requested reauthorization of the Regional General Permit (RGP) No. 29 to conduct maintenance dredging at existing berths and public marinas in the county of Los Angeles, California.

According to the Corps, LAHD application proposes dredging of approximately 150,000 cubic yards of sediment per year from various berths within the Port of Los Angeles. Overall amount to be dredged over the five-year period is not to exceed approximately 750,000 cy.

Under the proposal, dredged material would be disposed of at the LA-2 ocean disposal site, or the Berths 243-245 confined disposal facility (CDF).
