The 1000m³ inland cutter suction dredger, named DCI ID Ganga, joined the Dredging Corporation of India’s dredging fleet yesterday.

The dredging vessel was built by the Shoft Shipyard Pvt Ltd, located in Bharuch, Gujarat.

The dredging trials of the Ganga were successfully carried out by the Shoft staff.

DCI’s General Manager, Dr. G.V.R. Murthy and Mr. Sahay Raj, Shoft Shipyard’s Managing Director, attended the handing-over ceremony at Port of Puducherry yesterday, DCI said in its announcement.

The Ganga is DCI’s first inland cutter suction dredger which will be actually engaged in inland type of dredging works, India’s largest dredging company stated.

Hundreds of TSHDs and CSDs like this one will be collected and published in next year’s Dredging Vessel Directory, to be released in the first quarter of 2017.
