Dredging Corporation of India Wins Kolkata Port Trust Contract

Dredging Corporation of India Ltd (DCI) has won a contract for the maintenance dredging works for the Kolkata Port Trust (KoPT), a statutory body under the Ministry of Shipping, Government of India.

This project will include dredging operations on the shipping channels leading to Haldia Dock Complex in the Hooghly Estuary for a period of five years, beginning from January 2017.

DCI has been carrying out the maintenance dredging works for the KoPT for the last thirty years.

In the past, DCI used to dredge about 20 million m³ per year by deploying six dredgers at Jellingham and Auckland Bars.

Under the new contract, the scope of dredging work has been reduced to about 8 million m³ per year and DCI will undertake these works by deploying three dredgers.

Seven Indian and foreign parties participated in the pre-bid meeting for the tender and only two parties participated in the tender.
