Sumco Eco-Contracting Wins Plymouth Dike Deal

Business & Finance

The Plymouth Harbor Long Beach stone dike in Plymouth, Mass., will be repaired under the terms of a $537,000.00 contract issued recently by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District.

Work will be accomplished by Sumco Eco-Contracting, LLC, of Salem, Mass. Construction is scheduled to start on or about November 7, 2016 and take about one month to complete. The contract was awarded on September 21, 2016.

“Sections of the dike were damaged during the Blizzard Juno in 2015,” said Project Manager Mike Walsh, of the Corps’ New England District, Programs and Project Management Division in Concord, Mass.

“The work on this project consists of the recovery and resetting of existing rock, plus delivery and setting of approximately 100 tons of new rock.”

This work will utilize all land-based construction. The total length to be repaired is approximately 700 feet. The anticipated work window, due to environmental constraints, is September 15 to March 31.

The project will be managed by the Corps of Engineers and all work will be accomplished under the supervision of a Corps’ Quality Assurance Representative to assure compliance with contract requirements.
