Norfolk Dredging Wins $10.4M Dredging Contract

Norfolk Dredging Company of Chesapeake, Virginia, has won a $10.4 million contract for Wilmington Harbor mid-river and military ocean terminal Sunny Point maintenance dredging.

The work, to take place in New Hanover and Brunswick counties in North Carolina, will require the removal and disposal of shoaled material that has accumulated in the channels since they were last dredged.

The maximum dredging depth will be 42 feet Mean Lower Level Water (MLLW) plus 2 feet of allowable overdepth for the Wilmington Harbor Mid-River and 34-38 feet MLLW plus 2 feet of allowable overdepth for the Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point (MOTSU).

The estimated quantity of material to be dredged, including allowable overdepth, is approximately 2,300,000 cubic yards.

The estimated completion date for the project is July 31, 2017.
