More Work Needed at Guimaras-Iloilo Ferry Terminal Project

Business & Finance

The Guimaras-Iloilo Ferry Terminal (GIFT) project is not yet ready for opening; there are still several works to be finished before its inauguration.

This was reported by city administrator Norlito Bautista after mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog met on July 11 project stakeholders to include developer Double Dragon Properties, pumpboat operators, Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), transport organizations, officials of barangay Concepcion and affected vendors.

Bautista said that the meeting did not discuss the closure of the Ortiz wharf since there was no provision in the joint venture agreement between the city and Double Dragon for the closure of the old Ortiz wharf.

Personnel will also be trained in the operation of the terminal facility while dredging will be conducted yet at the wharf.
