Business & Finance

FSUE Rosmorport’s new trailing suction hopper dredger, the Severnaya Dvina, has been officially presented to the public at the Damen Shiprepair yard in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

The vessel – built by Damen’s Song Thu Corporation shipyard in Da Nang – will today set sail for Arkhangelsk, Russia.

The main purpose of this 2,000 m³ TSHD will be to maintain navigation depths and provide safe shipping in the port basin and approaches.

According to the shipbuilder, the Severnaya Dvina has a reinforced bow with ICE 1 notation so it can continue dredging in waters approaching freezing point, and then relocate with icebreaker support.

Fitted with a complete Damen Dredging Equipment dredge and instrumentation package, the vessel is designed for efficient operation and ease of maintenance, including a Ø600 mm trailing pipe and hydraulic winches, a low pressure Damen inboard dredge pump for the most efficient hopper loading process, telescopic overflow and 5 rod-actuated bottom doors.
