Business & Finance

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Buffalo District, has awarded a $926,000 contract to dredge Oswego Harbor, NY, this summer.

The contract was awarded to Luedtke Engineering Company of Frankfort, MI, and includes dredging a total of 175.000 cubic yards of sediment from the federal navigation channel.

Dredging will be performed at the harbor mouth, in the outer harbor and within the western channel area.

The dredging of Oswego Harbor allows bulk commodities to pass through the harbor, supporting more than 24,000 jobs which generate over $2 billion in total annual business revenue,” said LTC Adam Czekanski, USACE Buffalo District commander. “The harbor is a major receiving port on Lake Ontario and part of the larger Great Lakes Navigation System. Proper maintenance of this system is critical to ensuring our Nation’s industrial strength.

Work on the project is expected to begin around June 27th with the completion set for late July.
