Hillsboro Canal Dredging Scheme Moves Forward

The City of Deerfield Beach and the City of Boca Raton recently entered into an agreement to dredge a portion of the Hillsboro Canal, and this dredging scheme is currently underway.

The costs for the project have been split between both cities and is also being subsidized by a grant from the Florida Inland Navigation District.

The dredging project, being conducted by Arbor, Tree and Land, Inc., consists of dredging approximately 18,000 cubic yards of sand to restore proper navigable depths to the Hillsboro Canal.

During construction, the northwest portion of Pioneer Park will be utilized as a staging area for project materials.

Construction will only take place during normal business hours, Monday – Friday, the City of Deerfield Beach said in its announcement.
