‘Dredged Material: Make It Your Business’ in Elyria

Business & Finance

Lorain County Community College, located in the city of Elyria, Ohio, will host “Dredged Material: Make It Your Business – Digging Up Ideas Workshop” on May 11.

Each year, harbors on Ohio’s north shore must be dredged to keep the shipping channels open so commodities/vessels can move in and out of the ports.

Much of the dredged material is currently dumped in the open waters of Lake Erie. With the 2015 passage of Ohio Senate Bill 1, this will no longer be an option after July 1, 2020.

“This workshop is an opportunity to explore ways Ohio can repurpose material dredged from Lake Erie’s harbors. Policy makers, business experts and others will discuss what you need to make your dredged material product or idea a reality,” Ohio EPA said.

The conference is the first of its kind in Ohio and is open to “anyone with ideas,” EPA added.
