Boskalis’ 4,500 m³ trailing suction hopper dredger Freeway is currently removing silt from the Waterford Estuary shipping channel at the Belview seawards, according to the Port of Waterford.

Dumping of the dredged material will take place at an approved site south-west of Hook Head.

All vessels, particularly those engaged in fishing approaching an area of operations, should proceed with caution and are requested to give the dredger a wide berth and keep a sharp lookout, the Port warns.

These dredging operations are expected to continue for approximately 14 days.
