Cumberland Dredging Meeting Scheduled for February

Business & Finance

A public meeting on the use of non-hazardous dredged material at a closed unlicensed city of Cumberland landfill will be held from 2 to 3 p.m., on February 9, 2016, in Cumberland, WI.

The city of Cumberland has requested approval from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to use dredged material as cover soil and berm making material at the city’s closed unlicensed landfill on 23 1/2 – 23 3/4 Avenue.

Dredged material from Beaver Dam Lake near the Third Avenue outfall has been used at the landfill previously and is the source of additional dredge material intended for use at the landfill at this time. Other dredged material, deemed suitable for use by the DNR, may be used in the future.

Use of dredged material at the landfill will be reviewed by the DNR for approval and/or concurrence.

The DNR will host the meeting and provide information on the use of the material and will consider any comments received from the public as part of its review.
