Duwamish Dredging Starts Soon

Business & Finance

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Seattle District, recently awarded the Duwamish Waterway maintenance dredging contract to J.E. McAmis of Chico, CA.

The work includes removal of about 105,000 cubic yards of material with in-water disposal.

J.E. McAmis will mobilize crews and equipment from their Longview, WA facility on or about 1 December 2015. The completion of this dredging scheme is scheduled for the end of the year.

To maintain the entire 5.5 miles of the Duwamish Waterway, the Corps must remove accumulated sediment from the upstream settling basin (known locally as the turning basin) every one to three years.
