Shark River Project Launch Today

Today, October 9, Department of Environmental Protection Commissioner Bob Martin will join Monmouth County and local officials for a ceremony launching a Christie Administration project to dredge the Shark River.

The kick-off event will take place at Shark River Municipal Marina, Neptune Township at 10 a.m. local time.

Shark River dredging project will remove 102,000 cubic yards of sediment from navigation channels. Mobile Dredging and Pumping Co. won this $7.6 million contract that will restore the state channels and allow safe passage for recreational and commercial traffic.

According to the NJDOT, the dredging will be completed in the winter of 2016.
