Middleton Dredging Scheme Proposed

Business & Finance

The City of Middleton, Wisconsin, has applied to the Department of Natural Resources for a permit to remove materials from the bed of two storm water ponds associated with wetlands of Pheasant Branch.

This project is located in the NW1/4 of the NW1/4 of Section 6, Township 7 North, Range 9 East, City of Middleton, Dane County.

The project proposes enhancing the pollutant removal capability of two existing storm water detention basins at Orchid Heights Park in the northeast portion of Middleton.

The basins will be dredged to a depth of 5 feet, the footprint of the ponds will not be increased.

The scheme purpose is to deepen the basins in order to trap greater amounts of sediment and phosphorus in order to protect the Pheasant Branch Marsh and Lake Mendota downstream.
