Dunkirk Harbor Dredging OKd

Business & Finance

The City of Dunkirk Common Council yesterday approved a dredging project aimed to improve the Dunkirk recreational harbor.

Dean Marine of Michigan won the contract for the works, the same company that worked on dredging and deepening of the Barcelona Harbor in Westfield last year, reported the BuffaloNews.

The contract requires a cooperative agreement with the Town of Hanover which has contracted with the same company to dredge Cattaraugus Creek’s small boat harbor at Sunset Bay.

According to Mayor A.J. Dolce, the dredging of the inner harbor will begin in late September and Hanover’s would begin in the spring.
