Picture of the Day: Maroochydore Renourishment

Business & Finance

As part of the Sunshine Coast Regional Council’s winter sand renourishment program, the sand pumping operations started this month at Maroochydore Beach and Mooloolaba Spit.

Division 8 Councillor Jason O’Pray said that the Council will pump over 75,000 cubic meters of sand onto Maroochydore Beach.

Between June and August, we’ll pump around 7000 cubic meters of sand from the entrance to the Mooloolah River onto the spit at a cost of $250,000. Work will assist with erosion protection, improve beach amenity and create safe navigational access to the Mooloolaba harbor in partnership with Queensland Transport and the Port of Brisbane Authority,” added Division 4 Councillor Chris Thompson.

A small section of the beach will be closed where works are taking place and traffic measures will be in place throughout the work.
