The New Suez Canal project is well on schedule, with the opening ceremony set to take place on August 6.

Jan De Nul six cutter suction dredgers working on site, together with 18 other dredgers of the Consortium partners, dredge 24/7 in order to deliver the New Suez Canal by August 2015.

The Consortium, consisting of Jan De Nul, NMDC, Boskalis and Van Oord, will by the end of the project remove a total of 180 million m³ of soil. This means that 600,000 m³ is to be dredged every day.

Dredging of the New Suez Canal started in December 2014. Once finished, the New Suez will have a depth of 24m, a width of 240m, and will be one third in length of the current Canal.
