Business & Finance

The New Suez Canal will be equipped with the most modern seamarks and buoys to achieve the highest level of navigational safety to passing ships, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority Mohab Mamish said.

During a meeting with visiting UAE State Minister Sultan al Jaber and his accompanying delegation, Mamish said 110 buoys will be installed at the new canal in May and June in addition to guidance and control stations that will be developed across the canal.

A main station will be established in Ismailia and the navigation control system at the canal will be developed, he said.

Mamish said recently that the dredging works on the new waterway scheme will be finalized before the deadline and the preparations for the inauguration ceremony of the New Suez Canal are currently underway.

He also added that the Suez Canal Authority will be responsible for running the Suez Canal Corridor Development Project until a new body is formed.
