Picture of the Day: New Sand for Oakwood Beach

Business & Finance

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and its contractor Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company are constructing a berm system at Oakwood Beach, N.J.

The project involves pumping approximately 350,000 cubic yards of sand onto the beach.

Work is designed to reduce damages from future storm events and was funded through the Hurricane Sandy Relief Bill (PL 113-2).

In this photo, USACE Philadelphia District Commander Lt. Col. Michael Bliss discusses beachfill operations with Operations Chief Tony DePasquale.
