Strabag, Archirodon Sign Port Louis Contract

Business & Finance

A joint venture between Austria’s Strabag and Greek harbor specialist Archirodon has won around €90 million (US$115 million) contract to extend the container port at Port Louis, Mauritius.

This development program will be carried out in four phases to allow the harbor to remain in operation while work is going on.

Phase 1 will see a new 244 m berthing quay built on the seabed, following foundation work to construct a combi-wall of tubular steel piles and sheet piles.

This phase is due for completion in mid-2015.

Phases 2 to 4 involve the modernization of 560 m of existing harbor facilities. These works should be completed by December 2016.
