NQBP and JCU Test Water Quality

North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation (NQBP) has engaged scientists at James Cook University (JCU) to undertake an extensive ambient marine water quality monitoring program.

The monitoring covers an area from near Sarina to Keswick Island in the southern Whitsundays, a distance of 55km.

Locations were determined in conjunction with JCU whose researchers installed the water quality monitoring equipment.

The monitoring program is designed not only to increase the scientific knowledge around water quality in the region but also to increase public confidence that dredging operations have been and continue to be well managed and to demonstrate that impacts are well understood.
