Full Hearing Scheduled for HMNB Devonport License

The High Court has granted permission for a judicial review of MMO’s marine licensing decision to grant a marine license for dredging at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Devonport and disposal at the Rame Head South site.

On 8 October the Marine Management Organization was notified by the High Court that they have granted permission for a judicial review to proceed on the dredging license.

The license covers dredging and disposal activities from 2014 to 2016 to maintain the operational and navigation depths in the approaches, berths and basins at HMNB Devonport.

This is not a final determination of the claim in favor of the claimant, but means that a full hearing of the application will take place. The order received from the court acknowledges the need for maintenance dredging in relation to HMNB Devonport.

The Marine Management Organization (MMO) approved and issued the license to Westminster Dredging to carry out the dredging.
