Sylvania Waters Dredging Begins Next Month

Maintenance dredging of the Sylvania Waters canals will commence in mid-October and is expected to be completed by the end of November, according to The St George & Sutherland Shire Leader.

Under the cleanup plan, three areas will be dredged:

– at the exit of Gwawley Creek between Belgrave Esplanade, Clarence Crescent and Castlereagh Crescent;

– between Hawkesbury Esplanade and Roper Crescent;

– between Wollondilly Place and Bellinger Place south of Belgrave Esplanade.

This dredging project, worth $990,000, will improve navigation and allow unrestricted vessel access at low tide which is currently not possible in some spots.

According to the Leader, the Sutherland Shire Council has a memorandum of understanding with canal owners Sydney Waters Limited to undertake these dredging works.
