Little Narragansett Bay Requires Dredging

From October 1, 2014, until January 31, 2015, approximately 60,000 cubic yards of sandy material will be dredged from the Federal Navigation Channel at Little Narragansett Bay.

According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, this deepening scheme will cost between $1 million and $5 million.

Under the project planning, a hydraulic cutter head dredger will remove sandy material from the mentioned channel and place it onto Sandy Point Island.

Dredging operations, including placement of dredged material on the island and final grading, are anticipated to last no longer than 12 weeks.

The solicitation for this project will be available on or about June 23, 2014.
