Maritime Administration of Latvia Adopts CARIS Bathy DataBASE

The Maritime Administration of Latvia, Hydrographic Office, has become the latest user of CARIS Bathy DataBASE for managing its increasing volumes of bathymetric data.

Latvia is an IHO member state and is responsible for hydrographic surveys, paper and electronic chart production as well as maritime safety information. The Hydrographic Office uses several multibeam systems and was facing increasing needs for data management as its volume of bathymetric data rapidly increased.

CARIS Bathy DataBASE allows the Hydrographic Office to store and manage its bathymetry in a robust and scalable database environment. The advanced 3D viewing capabilities, analysis and feature generation tools will provide efficiencies in the downstream chart production process. CARIS Bathy DataBASE’s support for IHO S-100/S-102 helps ensure the Hydrographic Office will also be prepared for future requirements.

The delivery of the system took place after a thorough evaluation of the system by the Hydrographic Office and was accompanied with on-site training in Latvia’s capital Riga.
