Three Michigan Harbors Get Financial Boost

Michigan Senators Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow welcomed more than $3 million in federal grants to help boost recreational boating in three Michigan communities.

The grants, through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Boating Infrastructure Grant program, will help fund boating facilities in Benton Harbor, East Tawas and Wyandotte.

Our Great Lakes draw people from across the country and the world to Michigan every year,” said Stabenow. “This support will help boost the region’s $16 billion recreational boating industry and help keep our economy growing.”

The Michigan projects are:

– Harbor Shores transient marina in Benton Harbor, $699,500;

– State harbor dock renovation in East Tawas, $1.3 million;

– Bishop Park transient marina in Wyandotte, $1.17 million.
