Environment Agency Clears River Blockages

The Environment Agency has issued 15 Severe Flood Warnings along the River Thames from Datchet to Shepperton Green, including Ham Court and Chertsey.

The Environment Agency is working with key agencies, including local authorities, emergency services and the military to ensure that those most likely to be affected are kept safe.

Environment Agency officers are out checking flood defences and clearing any river blockages. We are receiving regular updates from the Met Office, and will continuously monitor conditions and river levels. We are also working closely with local authorities and emergency services to respond to any reports of flooding,” they announced.

Simon Hughes, Regional Manager at the Environment Agency, said: “We encourage everyone at risk of flooding to listen to and co-operate with the emergency services, particularly those in the areas where severe flood warnings have been issued.

“Our teams are out in force checking that flood defences and barriers are in good working order and our Flood Ambassadors are on the ground helping people and communities.”
