iPS Obtains MLC 2006 for Overseas Entities

iPs has announced that in addition to iPS’s Dutch entities, now also their overseas entities are certified with regard to the Maritime Labor Convention 2006 (MLC:2006). The respective certificate was handed over by Bureau Veritas.

Regulation 1.4 of MLC mandates that each member that operates a public seafarer recruitment and placement service, shall ensure that the service is operated in an orderly manner that protects and promotes seafarers’ employment rights as provided in the convention.

Congratulations are in order to the iPS staff involved, for their hard work and co-operation, which resulted in this important accomplishment.

Rob Kooijmans, Director of iPS, stated: “The audit focused on our entities overseas. By successfully obtaining the MLC certification for these companies we do have created a strong competitive advantage in the local markets but also for serving our international clients”.
