 FriGeo Lands Important Deal

FriGeo has landed a very prestigious contract regarding freeze dredging in the Värta harbor, outside Stockholm, Sweden.

The Swedish Harbors introduced a plan to create a new pier for passenger traffic there. The main contractor, and the FriGeo customer, is Danish company Aarsleff.

We are very pleased to be chosen for this comprehensive assignment”, says CEO Klas Dagertun. “It is one of our largest ever and also a very strategic deal.”

The Method – The Power of Water and Ice

During freeze stabilization, blocks of the bottom sediment are frozen below water and stabilized before being lifted. Frozen sediments are nearly as hard as concrete and the content of the frozen block, whether a contaminant or a valuable object, will stay safely embedded in the sediments while being salvaged to land.

Artificial ground freezing has been in the existence for over 100 years and is a proven method used to provide earth support for excavations in the mining and construction industry.

FriGeo has taken this method one step further by applying it to underwater environments and to salvage and remediation projects where coverage, precision, cost effectiveness and environmental sustainability are top priorities.
