Jebel Ali Port Wins Its 19th Best Seaport - Middle East Award

Jebel Ali Port, the leading port in the Middle East has won the trophy for Best Seaport in the Middle East for the 19th year in a row.

DP World’s flagship has been voted the “Best Seaport – Middle East” at the 27th Asian Freight and Supply Chain Awards (AFSCA 2013). Four ports from the Middle East were nominated, from the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Oman.

Organised by one of Asia’s leading transport and logistics newspapers, Cargo News Asia, the AFSCA awards involve key decision makers in the industry who take part in an independently verified nomination round followed by a voting round. The winners are chosen by readers of Cargo News Asia voting for the best-performing companies across a number of categories.

Kris Chang, Managing Director, DP World – China, received the prestigious award on behalf of DP World, UAE Region at a glittering ceremony in Beijing. The event was attended by top executives from the world’s leading airlines, shipping lines and supply chain companies gathered to celebrate the AFSCAs.

Jebel Ali Port handled 13.3 million TEU in 2012. Additional capacity comprised of a 1 million TEU expansion to the existing facility and development of a new 4 million TEU terminal will increase the total handling capacity to 19 million TEU by 2014.
