Coasts, Marine Structures and Breakwaters 2013, UK

The Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) has announced the tenth in this highly-regarded series of specialist conferences: Coasts, Marine Structures and Breakwaters 2013.

Known for offering the best international forum for the discussion of the latest developments as well as informed debate – every event in the ‘Breakwaters’ series has ensured that advances in coastal engineering are appropriately highlighted.

Whilst retaining the historical coverage on shoreline structure, coastal processes, and design and construction of breakwaters and related structures, this event will extend the marine energy theme initiated with the 2009 conference; with emphasis on aspects at the civil and coastal engineering interface, such as fluid loadings, resource modelling, interactions with the environment, construction, installation, cabling, servicingand maintenance.

The conference will address the following topics:

– Breakwaters, piers and jetties,

– Marine energy systems, offshore and nearshore devices and systems, service landfall,

– New coastal facilities and infrastructureincluding oil and gas terminals, power stations, desalination plants,

– Waterfront developments,

– Seawalls and shoreline structures,

– Ports, locks and harbours,

– Coastal erosion and flooding,

– Shoreline management, environmental andsocial awareness,

– Coastal, estuarine and oceanographic processes; data measurement, monitoring and modelling,

– Coastal threats, storms, tsunamis andclimate change,

– Dredging and use of dredged materials,

– Construction materials – embedded energy, sustainability.

This conference will take place from 18–20 September 2013, in Edinburgh, UK.
