The Netherlands: Delft to Host Next IADC’s Seminar

Business & Finance

Delft to Host Next IADC's Seminar.

To optimise the chances of the successful completion of a dredging or reclamation project, all contracting parties should – from the start – fully understand the requirements of the project.

With this mission in mind, the International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) launched its now well- known seminar 20 years ago.

This year, for the 42nd time, the IADC is presenting this highly informative and respected International Seminar on Dredging and Land Reclamation in cooperation with UNESCO-IHE (24-28 June 2013, Delft, The Netherlands).

As a recent Seminar participant in Brazil remarked: “For the client, the IADC seminar is the best opportunity ever to start to understand what a dredging work is. After the Seminar you can see what is possible and what is not.”

IN THE CLASSROOM

The in-depth lectures are given by dredging experts from IADC member companies, whose practical knowledge and experience add an extra value to the classroom lessons.

Amongst the subjects covered are:

• the development of new ports and maintenance of existing ports;

• project phasing;

• descriptions of types of dredging equipment;

• costing of projects; and

• types of dredging projects.

BEYOND THE CLASSROOM: SEEING IS BELIEVING

Activities outside the classroom are equally as important. An on-site visit to a nearby dredging project is therefore an integral element in the learning process as well as a visit to the dredging yard of IADC member Van Oord.

NETWORKING

Face-to-face social contact is invaluable. A mid-week dinner where participants, lecturers and other dredging employees can interact, network and discuss the real, hands-on world of dredging provide another dimension to this stimulating week.

CERTIFICATE OF ACHIEVEMENT

Each participant will receive a set of comprehensive proceedings with an extensive reference list of relevant literature and at the end of the week, a Certificate of Achievement in recognition of the completion of the coursework. This Seminar starts on Monday 24th June at 8:45 hrs and ends Friday 28th June at 17:30 hrs.
