Queenscliff Dredging Begins (Australia)

Queenscliff Dredging Begins

Mariners have been told to be alert around Queenscliff, Victoria, where maintenance dredging has just begun.

Dredging works carried out between 5 and 9 March within the main basin will be undertaken by the Birdon cutter suction dredge.

Dredge spoil will be pumped through a discharge pipe to the beach disposal site at Sand Island.

On-water plant and equipment will be marked with yellow flashing lights from sunset to sunrise as per IALA standards.

Suction/Jetting dredging works within the eastern basin of the marina will be carried out between 11 March and 11 April by a pump mounted on a vessel.

This component of works will only be conducted during daylight hours Monday to Friday and during Ebb tide conditions.

All associated equipment will be removed from the waters within the marina at the end of each day’s operations.
