The Netherlands: APM Terminals Joins Campbell Institute as Charter Member

APM Terminals has become a Charter Member of the Campbell Institute of the U.S.-based National Safety Council.

“We see our membership in this internationally known safety advocate as a very natural extension of our own dedication to Safety Culture throughout the APM Terminals Global Terminal Network, and we look forward to working together with other industry leaders in helping to reduce risks and eliminate accidents in the workplace” said APM Terminals Safety Advocate Martin Poulsen, who will also serve as a member of the Campbell Institute Advisory Committee.

“We are very proud to have APM Terminals’ participation as a Charter Member,” said Campbell Institute Senior Director Laura Fiffick, adding “Their industry leadership in safety is well-known and we are confident that their involvement in our programs will have a significant impact through the Institute.”

APM Terminals, which employs 25,000 personnel in port and Inland Services cargo handling and transportation operations in 68 countries on five continents, has become the industry’s leader in safety performance, with the company’s Lost-Time Injury Frequency (LTIF) rate falling by 64% from 9.6 per million man-hours worked in 2007 to 3.46 per million man-hours worked in 2011, and has received wide recognition among industry safety awards for individual facility and overall company safety performance.
