USA: Completion of Colorado Lagoon Dredging Scheduled for July

The Friends of the Colorado Lagoon say they are at a critical juncture in the history of the organization, which is a coalition of citizens dedicated to restoring and preserving the wetland habitat as a human and environmental resource, reports gazettes.com.

FOCL has made major strides to restore the lagoon since 2009.

The reconstruction consisted of two phases. First phase included retrofits on storm drains leading to the lagoon and a culvert cleaning.

The second phase includes dredging. The compilation is scheduled for end of July.

These phases are so critical for cleaning the lagoon and now we can really dig into phase three, which is the re-vegetation of the Colorado Lagoon. We are going to have people, the community, the neighbors, planting the plants… We’ve been doing this here and there, but most of this had to wait until the dredging was done.” said Education director Taylor Parker.
