A new 3,000 m³ trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) is taking shape in Szczecin, Poland.
The vessel is being built for the Maritime Office in Szczecin and will be deployed for maintenance dredging and project support.
Shipyard Partner Stocznia has contracted MOTAS Dredging Solutions for the engineering and components package. Under the contract, MOTAS will design and supply the complete dredging installation, tailored to their dredging requirements. Also, MOTAS team supports installation and commissioning on board.
Key elements of their scope:
- Complete trailing suction pipe with gantries,
- SDU 700 drag head,
- Inboard dredge pump,
- Six bottom door sets,
- Overflow system,
- Mixture pipeline with gate valves,
- Bow coupling system,
- Hydraulic installation,
- Dredge Control & Monitoring System (DCMS).
MOTAS said that they work closely with Vuyk Engineering on this project.
"The newbuild vessel is designed to perform a range of dredging activities, including maintenance dredging and project support operations. A key design feature is the integration of dredging equipment within the hull and deck layout, enabling efficient execution of dredging operations within the available vessel dimensions," Vuyk said.
The propulsion and power configuration are aligned with the operational profile of a mid-size dredger, supporting both sailing performance and dredging efficiency. The general arrangement provides space for operational systems and dredging equipment within a compact TSHD design.
