The dredging operations in the Cobourg Harbor will be continuing this week and into the fall season, the Town of Cobourg said.
"With water depths getting low, dredging is needed for safe passage for the Coast Guard and other vessels. Dredging begins at the entry of the harbor to ensure safe access for the Coast Guard," the Town said.
Additional dredging is conducted as required to maintain water depth.
Mechanical dredging involves removing accumulated sand and silt, which contributes to shallow water levels and hinders boat anchoring and navigation.
