Jan De Nul’s trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Juan Sebastián de Elcano has finished a maintenance dredging campaign at Rio Tinto Facilities.
According to the Maritime Union of Australia - WA Branch, the project covered the following areas:
• Rio Tinto main channel including the outer deep-water route (east of Courtenay Shoal),
• East Intercourse Island (EII) departure channel & berths,
• Parker Point approach, departure channels & berths,
• Parker Point Fuel berth,
• Parker Point swing basin (Berths 3 & 5).
A second Jan De Nul campaign utilizing the TSHD Vasco Da Gama will kick off around mid-September with maintenance dredging Pilbara Ports facilities and will then mobilize for the Port Hedland Zone 5 bypass channel.
