The decision to dredge Hythe Quay and Visitor Pontoon in Maldon was approved at the Full Council meeting held on Thursday, 13th February.

This project will ensure that the Quay and Pontoon area are suitably dredged, enabling vessels, including the town’s famous Thames Sailing Barges, which are moored at the Quay, to manoeuvre safely and continue to use the two areas.

The dredging will support the continued presence of the Thames Sailing Barges in the District, thereby supporting tourism and local businesses. Additionally, it will encourage more use of the Visitor Pontoon by visiting vessels.

This dredging work will be delivered in collaboration with the Maldon Harbor Improvement Commissioners, the National Trust, and other key stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of the project.
