This is a very important storm protection project for Mexico Beach that has taken years of hard work and planning to make happen.

In fact, the Mexico Beach Community Development Council began work on this project prior to the devastation caused by Hurricane Michael.

The project, awarded to Weeks Marine for $27.2 million, includes dredging and placing nearly one million cubic yards of sand from the Mexico Beach Canal at the western end to the Gulf County line at the eastern end.

The work is expected to take approximately three months; however, construction may move faster or slower. The project has an anticipated completion date of May 1st, 2025.
