According to Council’s Director of Engineering and Infrastructure Services, Robert Scott, the sand buffer which provides temporary protection to the coastline is constantly being eroded by the ocean.

This short-term solution aims to provide some protection as well as maintaining beach amenity.

Sand renourishment is undertaken to provide a buffer to reduce the risk of erosion impacts on assets such as the road,” Scott said.

Dredging of the Myall River will provide the sand for the program.

Works are set to take place between 3 February and 14 March 2025, weather permitting.
