Dredging work on One Mile Creek at Port Hinchinbrook near Cardwell is moving forward.
According to the officials, the current dredging will restore easier access to the boat ramp but a more permanent solution is needed.
“ My office will continue liaising with councils, businesses, fishers and my colleagues in the new LNP State Government to explore options for restoring all-tide access to Cardwell and Lucinda further south ,” said Susan McDonald , Senator for Queensland.
“ Navigable waterways are essential for tourism, recreation and rescue services, and will provide a major economic boost to the Hinchinbrook area .”
Completion of the dredging program will depend on tidal variations.
