Work is in full swing on this multi-million pound scheme, aimed to protect two seaside resorts, they said.

14,000 tonnes of rock have been delivered from North Wales quarries, ready to be carefully placed as rock armor for the new sea defenses,” according to the council.

“The beach will be closed to the public for this work to be done safely. Once we have completed sections of work, access to the beach will be re-opened in phases.”

The length of coastline at Kinmel Bay is threatened by flooding due to climate change causing the sea level to rise and more frequent large storms.

In some places existing coastal defenses need to be strengthened and increased in height, the council added.

The work is set to be completed in Spring 2026.
