Boskalis’ TSHD Gateway and backhoe Baldur raise the bar in Dampier

Dredging

Over the past two years, Boskalis worked on the installation of the 433-kilometer-long gas export pipeline from the Scarborough gas field to the Pluto LNG facilities in Dampier, Western Australia.

According to Boskalis, this project was made possible by the collective efforts of their specialist fleet, including:

  • trailing suction hopper dredger (TSHD) Gateway,
  • backhoe dredger Baldur,
  • subsea rock installation vessel Seapiper, and
  • construction support vessel BOKA Tiamat.

Recently, Boskalis’ subsea rock installation vessel Seahorse completed the final phase of the works: installing strategically placed rock mounts at six critical subsea crossings.

These ‘berms’ are essential as part of the overall design to maintaining the pipeline’s position, safeguarding it from scouring and protecting it from the ocean conditions for decades to come,” said Boskalis.
