Dredging

Dredging at the Cape Jaffa Marina is progressing well, with approximately 1500m3 of sand being moved per day and relocated onto the eastern side of the marina.

According to the Kingston District Council (SA), a channel is currently being dredged between the two groynes to expedite re-opening.

The dredging project to re-open the marina was launched in late November and will continue throughout December 2024.

Even though 75,000 cubic meters of sand was dredged and relocated in early 2024, the significant impact of the recent storms has made that work largely redundant.

The latest survey has revealed that circa 100,000 cubic meters of sand is now required to be dredged and relocated to return the area to where it was prior to the storms.
