This groundbreaking decision, led by Senate Pro Tempore Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, was reached during yesterday’s session.

According to Karnga-Lawrence, the move sets the stage for these ports to transition into full county-based operations, pending concurrence from the House of Representatives.

If approved by the Lower House of the 55th National Legislature, this initiative will:

  • Expand port capacity through critical projects like dredging,
  • Enhance port operations in Sinoe, Maryland, and Grand Bassa Counties,
  • Increase local revenue and employment opportunities, etc.
