G-TEC has been contracted by FLC (Femern Link Contractors) to ensure safe removal of sand from the offshore borrow for the construction of the Fehmarnbelt tunnel, which will connect Scandinavia and Central Europe.

With the use of a dual multi-magnetometer frame setup, Karina can efficiently investigate the entire dredging area, providing high quality data and ensuring high detectability limits to allow the release of ALARP certificates,” said G-TEC.

“The dedicated survey setup on board Karina has made the transformation from seabed geophysical to UXO survey setup incredibly swift.”

This Fehmarnbelt construction project involves the creation of the world’s longest immersed tunnel, spanning 18 kilometers to connect Rødbyhavn in Denmark to the island of Fehmarn in Germany.

Femern Link Contractors (FLC) is responsible for designing and constructing the immersed tunnel, portals and ramps on both ends of the tunnel, in Rødbyhavn and Puttgarden.
