The Marjan Project delivery team recently completed a significant site visit to the trailing suction hopper dredger (THSD) Rotterdam, owned and operated by Van Oord. The giant dredger is currently deployed on the reclamation of Al Marjan Island.
Upon arrival, the team was welcomed by Van Oord representatives, who provided an overview of the THSD Rotterdam’s capabilities and recent projects, said Darren Cook, Head of Project Delivery at Marjan.
During the visit, the team had the opportunity to tour the vessel, observing its sophisticated equipment and operational processes.
Key discussions also focused on the challenges faced during project execution and the strategies implemented to overcome them.
According to Cook, the team also examined the state-of-the-art equipment utilized at site, which may serve as a reference for potential applications within the Marjan Project.
