Over the last decade and more, Baggerbedrijf De Boer – Dutch Dredging has been undertaking maintenance dredging works in the Port of Dunkirk, France.

Usually the work involves dredging in the Eastern and Western areas of the port to ensure that the waterways are maintained at their design specifications.

This includes dredging sand and silt, whereby the sand is sprayed in a depot or applied (by means of rainbowing) in the foreshore and the silt is spread at the various spreading locations at sea.

Baggerbedrijf De Boer has been providing maintenance work at this location since 2010, removing annually around 2,500,000 m3 of dredged material.

Over the years, the company used various equipment to complete the works, like the hopper dredgers Elbe, Albatross, Amazon, as well as bed levellers Janneke and Peter.
